I want to start by saying that I am a bit biased because I am a huge fan of chair yoga. I have to admit that I am a fan of using props of any kind. My body loves receiving the feedback from the prop, the extra support it gives me, the freedom of movement and it builds my confidence. And most importantly, it improves my posture while seated and standing!
Chair yoga has many benefits. It's a good way to start moving again during a recovery. It's fabulous for isolating various muscles or movements in the body. Chair yoga can be gentle, but it can also be very challenging, and build strength and tone in the muscles and fascia. You can also learn some quick postures that can easily do throughout your work day, especially useful if you are seated a lot during work and need a little tension release, improve posture, and breathing.
I am now offering a chair yoga class on Wednesday mornings. If you have never tried chair yoga, I encourage you to give it a chance. You may be pleasantly surprised at how your body and mind responds to this practice. I can't wait to see you there.
